Mr Dolton - Sports Coach

In November 2014, Jarvis Brook achieved a Silver Sainsbury’s School Games Mark.. The Mark rewards schools for their commitment to, and development of, PE, school sport clubs and competitions. The Mark also recognises all of the hard work undertaken by staff to ensure all young people have access to a wide breadth of sports opportunities with the school. At Jarvis Brook, we are currently working towards our Gold Mark!

All children have two hours of timetabled PE within the curriculum. We have utilised our Sports Premium funding to employ a Specialist PE/Sports coach to provide quality PE teaching. We have broadened the range of sports covered during curriculum PE, ensuring children have more opportunities than ever before to experience and enjoy PE.

We are actively involved in the local Beacon Cluster Partnership and regularly attend competitions and festivals. In 2013-14, we entered eighteen competitions, making four Partnership Finals and two County Finals. Within our Cluster, we are the current small Schools Athletic champions and the County Tri-Golf champions. We also won the Sportsmanship Award at the TAG Rugby County Finals.

The following sports are currently taught at Jarvis Brook:
  • Football, TAG rugby, hockey and quick sticks, basketball, hi 5 netball, gymnastics, swimming, KWIK cricket, stoolball, rounders, tennis, tri-golf, athletics, sports hall athletics, multi-skills (KS1), health and fitness, dodgeball and frisbee.
Change 4 Life Clubs are run on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes to encourage even more children to become active and enjoy exercise. We also have structured lunchtime games run by our dedicated Play Leaders.
