As we end Term 4, the children in Year 6 have continued to work hard and produce some fantastic work across the curriculum.
Having read Friend or Foe by Michael Morpurgo, the children used the characters to write detailed letters as evacuees during Operation Pied Piper in World War Two. They thought about the sequence of events along with the emotions they would feel leaving their families and living with new host families in an unfamiliar setting. The children’s ef-forts were outstanding with thoughtful ideas and carefully considered content.
In RE, we have explored the dif-ferences and similarities between the creation stories of major world religions. The children re-flected on how many religions share similar ideas about the cre-ation of the universe and every-thing in it.
As part of our work in art, the children have researched, designed and created printed patterns inspired by the work of William Morris. The children developed their ideas to make simple block prints to build detail as well as replicate the colour palette used by this Victorian designer.
Finally, in PSHE this term we have been focusing on our Health. To consolidate our learning and focus on our own per-sonal develop-ment, the chil-dren created posters to show just some of the ways they would combat the feeling of stress and pressure. The children dis-cussed particu-lar triggers to these complex feelings and came up with personalised approaches to managing these.
