News From The Classroom

  • Listening Walk
    We will be doing some science work with sound and light over the next few weeks.  Today we went on a listening walk inside and outside the school.  We were silent and counted the sounds we could hear.  It was amazing how many there were.  We got the inspiration for our listening walk from a book by the same name.  Click here to watch the story...and maybe you can take a listening walk of your own!

  • Understanding Our World
    We have been learning about our world through a study of different ecosystems.  The Amazon Rainforest is our current topic.  We have learned all about the layers of the rainforest and about how so many different species call it home.  We have been collaboratively creating a mural showing the layers and life of this amazing place.

  • May 15, 2017 Dear Families,We have been doing amazing writing work with the 2/3 class over the last few weeks.  We studied several fairy tales closely and retold them with pictures on a long strip of paper.  We then performed our retelling on our “tiny TV”.  Then we created our own adaptations of these stories.  We plan to continue writing with the 2/3 focusing on author’s’ craft-the tricks writers use to make stories great!In math we have been working with geometry and are beginning to talk about fractions.  I have some math homework to help us have some conversations about these two topics.FIRST: Raid your recycle bin!  We need some 3-dimensional objects to create a ...

  • April 11, 2017 We are having a fantastic time with CIRCUS SMIRKUS this week!  We are learning all sorts of circus skills like balancing, spinning and jumping and we are learning circus secrets like; “Try”, “Try Again”, “Watch”, and “Listen”.  I think a lot of these circus skills will help us everyday!  The school will be putting on a showcase of circus skills on Thursday at 2:15.  You are invited to come and check it out!  This showcase will be INSTEAD OF the Thursday morning All School Meeting.  Hope to see you there!
