News From The Classroom

  • Listening Walk
    We will be doing some science work with sound and light over the next few weeks.  Today we went on a listening walk inside and outside the school.  We were silent and counted the sounds we could hear.  It was amazing how many there were.  We got the inspiration for our listening walk from a book by the same name.  Click here to watch the story...and maybe you can take a listening walk of your own!

  • Understanding Our World
    We have been learning about our world through a study of different ecosystems.  The Amazon Rainforest is our current topic.  We have learned all about the layers of the rainforest and about how so many different species call it home.  We have been collaboratively creating a mural showing the layers and life of this amazing place.

  • April 11, 2017 We are having a fantastic time with CIRCUS SMIRKUS this week!  We are learning all sorts of circus skills like balancing, spinning and jumping and we are learning circus secrets like; “Try”, “Try Again”, “Watch”, and “Listen”.  I think a lot of these circus skills will help us everyday!  The school will be putting on a showcase of circus skills on Thursday at 2:15.  You are invited to come and check it out!  This showcase will be INSTEAD OF the Thursday morning All School Meeting.  Hope to see you there!

  • January 30, 2017 Dear Families,We were thrilled on Monday to be able to welcome our friend Amaya back!We also had some incredible visitors to help us more with our animal research project thanks to Alda’s mom Nora.  We got to see our animals up close and personal and think about ways we could describe our animals.We will be spending a lot of time with our research over the next few weeks.  We will be learning more about our animals and about how to teach others using words and visual representations.*****MARK YOUR CALENDARS***********************************************************************We will be taking a field trip to the Tin Mountain Conservation Center in Albany on Wednesday, February 8th.  We will leave school at 10:45 ...
