Welcome to the Art Room

    Greetings from Mrs.Rowe!

Here's to the start of another great and exciting school year. So far it has been a fantastic school year and we have been busy with some great Art projects.

What we have been doing:
5/6th Graders are creating some Mendhi hand art and will be moving into creating some masks after Christmas break.

4th Graders just read "Tar Beach" by artist Faith Ringgold and will be doing art based on her artistic style.

2/3 is recreating the famous piece "Goldfish" by artist Henri Matisse.

In K/1 we just read the book "The Mitten" by Jan Brett and are making some winter mittens of our own.

Here at JGS our students are enthusiastic and creative artists. This is my fifth year teaching Art at JGS and I continue to be impressed by the students talent and great ideas. We are fortunate to have the Community Art Room at the Whitney Center to hold our weekly Thursday classes.

Exciting News
In January our community friend and Dutch Blomen Winkle flower shop owner Carrie Scribner will be coming in for a full day to work with all the students to create some winter themed arrangements. Photos will follow.

Here are some samples of art work that our students created last year. Stay tuned for new art work posts for this 2014-2015 school year.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at, I am also avalaible at the school on Thursdays.
