Biological Resources

The River Education Program is designed to recognize, describe, educate, preserve and protect the importance of the river's biological diversity and resources in the Luquillo Experimental Forest (Forested and Urban Areas) in order to understand the ecological, aesthetic, ethical, and economic benefits to the community. The biological resources, living and non-living, are vital to understand the river ecosystem and their interactions among them and the humans. We include common, rare and sensitive species and other resources of interest as well as landscape-scale indicators that tell us something about changes in the ecosystem beyond their individual status or trend.
