WMD

WMD Limitations

Basic Rules

- WMD kill a percentage of all units caught in the Area of Effect (AoE). Fatalities round down.
- Units killed must belong to the player whose building was dropped on. (1 WMD hurts 1 player.)
- Units must occupy a building in the AoE. Units defending the point of WMD drop are not necessarily effected.
- Drop spot must be a building. (You cannot drop on unbuilt ground.)

Bio Weapons: Only kill Human Troops.
Nukes: Kill all types of units, including other WMD.

WMD Strategy: Drop on troop concentrations before doing conventional kills.

Embargo

You may never launch while you're in embargo, unless you're retaliating a WMD. Throwing WMD gives you embargo unless you're retaliating. Embargo duration varies with WMD type and is listed in Units age. As well as limiting fire, Embargo stops all your biz income.

Protection

You may never launch a WMD at someone in protection, unless you're retaliating a WMD. Throwing a WMD gives target protection unless your WMD is a retaliation. Protection duration goes by WMD type, listed in Units page.
Merge Rule: Listed protection is maximum protection, and varies with damage. 1 minute of protection for every 4 TT killed, and 30 min for every building level lost.

Fuel Use

WMD require fuel of each type to launch.
See units page: http://oilempires.com/units.cfm  (Pro units page looks off.)
You need x amount of fuel of each type for one launch.
Each type of fuel used can come from a different source. All of one type must come from one source. (Same as conventional rules.)

Retaliation vs. Provocation

Key words not to be confused.
WMDing someone gives them WMD retal on you.
Conventionally attacking gives them provoked WMD fire. (All attacks provoke.)

Retaliation

When you're WMDed, you're given a retaliation. When you have a retal on someone...
1. You may WMD them and ignore embargo and protection restrictions.
2. Your WMDs do not create embargo or protection.
3. You can attack through your own or your targets CF. "Attack" meaning conventional or WMD.

Retal expires 48 hour after the last WMD on you. AND, in merge, the retal expires if you have thrown 3 WMD back since enemy has last WMDed you. Without retal normal embargo, protection and CF rules apply.

Retaliation: Standard

- Your CF pierce ability expires if you have thrown 3 WMD since your last incoming WMD from target. if you throw 2 WMD back you keep CF pierce. This is because retal expires after 3 consecutive WMD going out, and CF pierce expires along with retal.
- The max retal WMDs you can throw is 3. It refreshes to 3 every time you're WMDed again. It always caps at 3. If you throw 3 in a row, you may throw a 4th but it doesn't count as a retal. I.e. it creates embargo and protection, it requires you not be embargo'd and it requires your target not have protection.

Retaliation: Blitz

If someone WMDs you, you may throw unlimited WMD back for 48 hours since their last WMD hit on you. All your retal WMD will not create embargo or protection. CF pierce will not expire from throwing back.

Provocation Limits

In Standard only.
When you WMD someone who has not in any way attacked you for 5 days, provoke limits come into play. That WMD would be unprovoked. An unprovoked WMD does the following:
1. Disallows you from throwing another unprovoked WMD for 5 days.
2. Target has 5 days to attack back without his attacks counting as provocation.

CF pierce

If you have a retal you may attack through your own CF or the target's CF. CF piercing hits will not take you out of CF, BUT they will reset your useable CF to zero as if you just attacked normally. ( If you have 5 minutes of CF left and you attack, after that 5 minutes you'll be stuck out of CF for 55 minutes or so.)
Learn more about CeaseFire Hours

Piercing your own CF: Put in 1+ hours of CF before piercing, so your allowed CF can regrow while your still in CF. If you want to stay CFed while attacking, have at least 60 minutes CF already activated.

Final Days

Merge: In last 48 hours of round only retal WMDs are allowed. You may only launch on someone who has launched at you in last 48 hours. (if you launch you give them a fresh retal to launch at you.)
If you haven't WMDed someone in last 48 hours, then you're unWMDable in last day of round.

Pro: In last 24 hours of round only retal WMDs are allowed (?). Otherwise same as above.

WMD Areas of Effect

WMD affect a square area. Area is measured in grids/squares not miles. Its not like DRs which make a circle.
