Today was a very busy day for those of us in Culinary Arts. We started our day off with Tech Expo where several of our students took time out of their day to spend time at the Holt Arena talking to hundreds of high school student about our program. Three of our advanced students also took time to display their artistic side by creating a couple of new carvings in front of the crowd. A skill that they learned at the end of last semester.
Our day was just as busy back at the college as our program hosted three guest chefs who visited as part of our ACF Accreditation team. They spent the day wandering the kitchen viewing how our program works, asking questions and talking to students and even, in some incidents, giving advice or help on how to make or correct a recipe. The students were nervous to begin with but ended up doing well through a stressful day. (As a side note 3/16/12: The report from our Accreditation team showed that they were very impressed with the program and the professionalism that our students showed. We have a few things to work on to make our program better but our students did an excellent job showcasing what they have learned and we are very proud of them.)
The pictures below are just a sample of how our day turned out.
