Workshop Overview
This certificate was designed with international educators in mind. The purpose of the certificate program is to prepare general educators, educational leaders, and other school personnel to team with specialists to design and deliver effective accommodations, modifications, and interventions within general education settings. The Inclusive Education Certificate is a 15-credit hour program that leads to graduate credit and a University of Kentucky transcript upon completion. Educators who would like to take the coursework for professional learning only (no graduate credit) may do so for a reduced rate. Completion of the courses for professional learning will lead to a Digital Badge in Inclusive Education issued by the College of Education. The University of Kentucky had a successful first international educators' cohort of Inclusive Education. They are now taking applicants to begin Cohort II this summer online (in partnership with The International School of Kuala Lumpur).

The Inclusive Education Graduate Certificate is a 15-credit hour university program that leads to one of two endorsements:
Graduate Certificate - Participants can choose to enroll in coursework as graduate students, complete all 15 hours, and earn a University of Kentucky "Graduate Certificate in Inclusive Education" that appears on the transcript upon completion. Participants in this program enroll at University of Kentucky's in state tuition rate!
Digital Badge - Educators who would like to take the coursework for professional learning only (no graduate credit) may do so for a reduced rate ($750). Completion of the courses for professional learning (no graduate credit will lead to a competency-based, "Digital Badge in Inclusive Education" issued by the College of Education.
Thos who would like to take courses a la carte (not leading to a graduate certificate) may also do this and select to take therse for graduate credit or professional learning and digital badge only.

Course Descriptions
Participants matriculate through the coursework in this program as cohorts. The following are descriptions of the five courses:
Survey of Special Education - EDS 600
Provides a foundational knowledge about a variety of disabilities, such as learning disabilities, autism, communication disorders, physical disabilities, behavior disorders, and developmental delay.
Principles of Behavior Management and Instruction - EDS 516
Provides the skills in designing research-based behavioral and academic intervention plans for implementation in the general education classroom.
Children and Families - EDS 522
Participants will learn effective ways t come to consensus with families, understand families' perspectives, and design high-quality IEPs/ILPs with families that meet each student's individual needs.
Collaboration and Inclusion - EDS 547
Draws on the research to prepare schools not to only accept student with disabilities, but to also promote educational outcomes for this population within truly inclusive settings.
Transdisciplinary Services - EDS 546
Provides participants with the skills needed to work as a team across multiple disciplines to design accommodations, modifications, and intervention strategies.

Instructors
Instructors
Instructors for the program will include professors at the University of Kentucky. Professors have Doctoral Degrees in special education and are well-respected researchers, prolific authors of peer-reviewed journal articles and books, and presenters with many years of experience in international education. Dr. Lee Ann Jung (Ph.D)
Lee Ann has been on faculty in the University of Kentucky’s College of Education since 2002 and has worked in the field of special education since 1994. Since 2002, Lee Ann has served as the higher education representative on Kentucky’s governor-appointed Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) for early intervention, which she chaired for several years. She has served in the roles of teacher, administrator, and researcher and has worked as an interventionist directly with hundreds of children with disabilities and their families.Lee Ann is actively engaged with schools and districts in supporting growth in the areas of standards-based assessment, family support, IEP/IFSP development, planning intervention, and measuring progress. Her constant connection to research-based practice in real-world settings throughout the US and in international settings forms the foundation of her university teaching.Lee Ann has authored or coauthored 4 books, two of which were finalists for the Distinguished Achievement award from the Association of Educational Publishers. She has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has received in excess of 4 million dollars in funding to support personnel preparation and research. This funding includes continuous funding since 2006 from the US Department of Education to support the tuition of scholars in the IECE program.Lee Ann has served as associate editor for Young Exceptional Children (YEC), guest editor and editorial board member of Topics in Early Childhood Special Education, and is currently an editorial board member for YEC and Journal of Early Intervention. Lee Ann is a 2001 graduate of Auburn University.
