Early Childhood Screening

The Early Childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is doing at age 3 1/2 or 4. It identifies, at an early age, possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before starting school.

Minnesota State Law requires every child to complete a developmental screening BEFORE entering Kindergarten.

Early Childhood Screening is offered twice a year October (Fall) & then again in February (Winter).
Fall November 5, 2018              Winter January 18, 2019
Screening is held at the Madelia Elementary School, 121 East Main St., in Rooms 108, 109, 110
& is FREE of charge.

Appointment letters are sent to parents of children in this age group with an appointment time.
*Children are only required to attend this screening ONCE before kindergarten entrance.
*Students that have already had similar screening through Head Start or Child & Teen Checkups may not need to participate.
