The Becker School District is committed to preparing students "to thrive in a changing global community." Study in world languages offers students the opportunity to communicate with people of other cultures and backgrounds. Language learning challenges students and introduces them to a larger world view. Most colleges require two or three years of study in a foreign language. (MDE website)
There are no state standards in world languages. However the Minnesota Department of Education requires districts to develop local standards. The Becker School District uses Minnesota World Languages: A Model for Use in Setting Local Standards, which is based on national standards, to develop local standards.
