Welcome to Ms. Austin's Web Page!

Hi! Thank you for visiting my webpage. I am the Reading Interventionist at Ordean East Middle School. I previously worked at Myers-Wilkins Elementary, Nettleton Elementary and Morgan Park Middle School, in the Duluth Public Schools, as well as Merritt Creek Academy and Laura MacArthur Elementary during summer programming. Before teaching in ISD 709, I taught at the High School level in Deer River, Minnesota.

I grew up in Duluth, but became a huge Hawkeye fan at the University of Iowa where I completed a BA in Elementary and Special Education. I completed a MA in Reading & Curriculum Instruction in 2014 through Concordia University. I am also trained through Hamline University in the phonics-based Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading.

Professionally I love continuing my education and evolving as a reflective practitioner. I enjoy developing relationships with students and making progress towards their goals.  In my free time I love reading and spending time with my dogs (Maddie, Michael & Lola).

I look forward to working with you and your child. Please contact me at (218) 336-8940 extension 2453 or alexandra.austin@isd709.org with any questions.
