Health Care Directives Welcome to Medicare
A health care directive (formerly referred to as a living will) makes it more likely that your wishes regarding medical care will be followed in the event of a medical emergency. It will also tell your care providers who you have appointed to make decisions on your behalf. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the components of a health care directive and ask questions. Forms will be provided and notary services will be available for those who wish to complete them at the time of the class. It would be helpful for you to bring the addresses and phone numbers of your designated health care agents; this is typically a spouse and/or child, but can be anyone you trust to carry out your directives. This is a free class, but please register in advance by e-mailing communityed@isd542.org  or 218-862-4603.

 READY FOR SPRING!
Intro to Tenkara Fly Fishing Classes - CANCELLED
Tenkara is the traditional Japanese method of fly-fishing that uses only a rod, line, and fly. Simplicity, precise casting, delicate presentation, and fly control – these are a few of the things that distinguish Tenkara. In Tenkara one just uses a rod, line and fly. A fixed length of line connects to the tip of the telescopic rod, a short length of tippet is attached to the line and then a fly and you’re ready to fish. Developed in the mountain streams of Japan, Tenkara was the original domain of commercial anglers who used to catch native trout for a living. Its history is suspected to go back at least 400 years, though little of it is documented. This class will cover rods, lines, flies, knots, open and close a rod, casting, and techniques to land a fish. If you have questions or need equipment to be provided, please call Doug at 218-640-3163.  To register for the class, please contact Battle Lake Community Education at communityed@isd542.org or call 218-864-5215.  Enrollment is limited; please register early.
