Auditions!

All students wishing to be a part of the Marching Storm will need to audition.  Auditions will serve to allow the staff the opportunity to see and hear your skills.  They will also have a better means of identifying students with more than one set of skills.  Students are encouraged to audition in multiple areas so the staff can select students for positions that best serves the entire unit.

Auditions will happen in small groups.  You are encouraged to audition with another person and then there needs to be a veteran marcher in your audition group too.  The best option is to have your section leader audition with you.  Most section leaders will be at rookie practice so you can learn who they are, and talk with them about selecting an audition time.

If you are auditioning for more than one instrument or equipment, make sure to sign-up with that section leader for a time too.

Students need to do 3 things to audition for the MARCHING STORM.  Please see below:
1.  Attend our Information Meeting and Fundamental Practices.
2.  Complete an Audition Application form [Found HERE]
(Notice: This form needs to be printed out and turned in when you audition.)
3.  Sign up for an audition time slot [HERE!].

AUDITION DETAILS
All sections of the band need to demonstrate an audition.  The auditions details for each section are listed below.

WHERE TO FIND INFORMATION

The primary resources for the Marching Storm are as follows:

1.  Our Web Page.  This is where stagnant information will be kept.  Our purpose for the Marching Storm web page is to be the anchor for basic information about our program.  Things like parade dates, load and leave times, contact information for both staff and adult volunteers, etc.  The URL for our web page is www.marchingstorm.com.
2.  Smore Newsletters.  This will be the place for updates on information that needs to reach students and parents with details and specifics about our season.  A print copy will be available at practices if you do not have any internet access.  The newsletter is email based.  It is very convenient for us to include links to download forms, include current photos of students in action and more.  When you are asked to share an email address, please choose the one you use frequently so the information can reach you in a timely manner.
3.  Charms Office.  Charms is a resource website we use to manage our student accounts.  As parents make payments intoCharms, the students account is credited with the payment information.  This helps us track payments for spirit wear and trip payments.
4.  Marching Storm Facebook Group.  If you use Facebook, we have a group that you can join to post quick questions that are important to you.  The network of students and parents who are members of this group always are willing to offer supportive ideas and information to those who ask.  To join this group, search for "The Official Marching Storm group."  It is a closed group so you will have to ask to become a member.  If you are an 8th grade parent or student, please send Mr. Campbell an email notifying him you are requesting to be a member of the group.  That will help him recognize your name when it appears as a membership request.
5.  Remind.  The texting service will be used only if there is an important message that needs to be sent out to students and parents.  Details like severe weather changes, or when buses will be expected at the high school after parades.  We may also choose to send out reminders about dates like when activity fees are due or when uniform fittings are scheduled.  That information will be posted on our web page soon.  To join the Marching Storm REMIND service, test @mstorm2019 to the number 81010.
