  • Season Ends in Pine Island The 2015-16 PEM Boys Basketball season came to an end in Pine Island during sub-section quarterfinals on Tuesday night.  Pine Island will advance and face Lake City on Tuesday night.  PEM lost the game by a 91-75 margin and finished the season with a 10-17 record for the second straight year.  The Bulldogs took a 46-30 deficit into halftime and upped the offensive movement in the second half.  They scored 45 second half points but surrendered the same to fall by the same halftime margin.  Barron Holtz was fabulous connecting on 70% of his shots finishing with a team high 23 points.  He also added 5 assists and 4 rebounds.  Brady Ziebell scored 10 points ...

  • Senior Night Success The PEM Bulldogs hosted Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Monday night for their last regular season contest of the year.  The Bulldogs honored four seniors to start the game.  Chase Rahman, Carson Root, Brady Ziebell and Michael Veenhuis all dawned the black uniforms for the last time on the home court.  All four started the game and as it turned out got to play a little extra time as the game went to overtime.  Senior Carson Root made all of his free throws finishing the game with 6 points.  Chase Rahman collected 3 rebounds and provided PEM with a couple of assists, Brady Ziebell scored 12 points and collected 7 rebounds and Michael Veenhuis added 3 points to go along with 4 ...

  • PEM Surges Into Seeding The PEM Bulldogs traveled to Spring Valley to take on the Kingsland Knights.  PEM pushed out to an early lead and extended a halftime lead to 12 points.  Hot shooting from Carson Root, Brady Ziebell and Barron Holtz kept the lead above ten points the rest of the night.  Ziebell finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds.  Holtz had 18 and Root had 20 points a career high.  The final buzzer sounded and the Dogs picked up a 75-60 victory.  PEM finds out their seeding on Sunday when the coaches gather to figure it out.

  • Saints Power Over Bulldogs In a very fun atmosphere for a game the PEM Bulldogs fell to the St. Charles Saints by a final score of 77-59. The game was very competitive for the first 10 minutes until St. Charles went on a run to secure a 20 point halftime lead.  The Dogs played even basketball the rest of the way but never could fight back into the game.  Evan Burdick and Chason Cordova supplied some excellent interior defense and David Penrose came in to score 9 second half points.  Barron Holtz led the Bulldogs with 14 points.  The Bulldogs have no time to relax as they play their final conference game of the year tonight in Spring Valley against the Kingsland Knights

  • Late Free Throws Push Bulldogs Ahead of Gophers Late free throws from Barron Holtz with 3.1 seconds remaining moved the Bulldogs ahead of the Chosen Valley for the final time as PEM comes out of another close game with a 55-52 win.  The Bulldogs had contributions from many guys.  Holtz led scoring with 22 points but it was the presence of "BigMan" Evan Burdick inside that notched one in the win column.  Burdick finished the night with 6 points, 5 blocks and 7 rebounds.  Carson Root hit a big three pointer down the stretch for the Bulldogs to keep PEM on top.
