What is a Pathfinder?
Pathfinders are upperclassmen who are good role models for younger students and who have been successful at Jefferson High School. Pathfinders’ communication skills, leadership potential, responsibility, and personality have helped them succeed in the high school environment. Moreover, the lessons they have learned should be shared to help others succeed.
What does a Pathfinder Do?
Pathfinders are trained to work with the incoming ninth grade class and other new students who are entering Jefferson next fall. After the extensive training, the Pathfinders will run the ninth grade orientation before school starts in August. At the orientation, each Pathfinder will work with a small group of new students throughout the day and will be asked to befriend and to help that group during the first week of school with any challenges they may face. Periodically during the school year, Pathfinders will meet again with their student groups to touch base, discuss problems, and plan social activities. We know that the more contact a ninth grader has with his/her Pathfinder the more successful the ninth grader is!!
