The Yellow Medicine East Agriculture and Science Research Facility is a state of the art 1200 sq. foot climate controlled greenhouse that utilizes high intensity LED lighting to grow a variety of plants.  YME was awarded a grant for the greenhouse "without windows" through the Archibald Bush Foundation.  It is located in the northeast corner of the YME campus and is connected to the maintenance shed.

Inside the greenhouse are three climate controlled rooms where students will be growing leafy greens, tomatoes and peppers both in soil as well as hydroponically.  One of the rooms will also hold four tilapia tanks where students will be monitoring growth, feed rations and water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrates and phosphates.  It is fair to say that students at YME will have learning opportunities like no other high school students in the state with this landmark facility.
