The GED Test provides an opportunity for adults to earn a high school equivalency diploma. The GED Test changed in 2014, so many adults need to update their skills to prepare for the new GED. In general, the GED Test requires strong reading, math, and writing skills. The entire test is now computer-based so some digital literacy skills are also helpful.
The new GED Test content areas are:
Brainerd ABE offers free GED Preparation classes and books. Classes meet at the Brainerd Learning Center. Class schedules are flexible. Some students attend classes and also access our free online GED curriculum, I-Pathways.
In the Brainerd Lakes area, Central Lakes College is our nearest GED Testing site. The GED Test fee is $120 ($30 per content area).
Discounts (up to $80 off) are available for ABE students through Brainerd ABE...while supply lasts. Test candidates must be MN residents, have a valid MN ID, and be at least 19 years of age. (If the candidate is 17 - 18 years of age, there is an age waiver process for those who qualify.)
