About Me

My name is Nicole Harmer, and this is my 20th year of teaching science at BHS. Currently I teach AP Biology, AP Seminar, and Chemistry. A 1991 BHS graduate (Go Warriors!), I attended the University of North Dakota following high school and completed my B.S. in Biology at Bemidji State University in 1995. Following graduation and a year of employment, I went back to school to achieve a second B.S degree  in Comprehensive Biology and General Science with a minor in Earth Science. I hold secondary teaching licenses in Life Science, Chemistry, and General Science. Hired by Brainerd ISD 181 in 1997, I have been employed at Brainerd High School for my entire teaching career thus far. In 2009 I completed my M.S. Ed. degree in Teacher Leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University.

My husband, Bart, and I have two children, Cole (a freshman at NDSU) and Camille (grade 11). We live in Baxter and have a Labradoodle named Bear. We enjoy traveling, camping, and attend sporting events. We are die-hard Warrior fans, and you can often find our entire family at most athletic events. In my spare time I like to read, play with technology, travel, and cook.

What I really want you to know about me is that I love my job -- teaching science to amazing, capable, and bright students. Everyday I learn something from them and am inspired by their enthusiasm and excitement to learn! I am looking forward to this year and welcome you to my classroom.
