Born, raised, and educated in the Brainerd Lakes Area, I am a BHS graduate of the Class of 1986.  I attended Baxter Elementary School, Franklin Junior High School, Washington Junior High for the 9th grade experience and then Brainerd Senior High School.  After graduation I attended St. Cloud State University, earning a B.S. in Social Studies as well as Geography.

I have taught in several schools throughout my career including the Range Area Alternative Program in Crosby, Calhoun City High School in Calhoun, Georgia, and Watertown High School in Watertown, South Dakota.

While in South South Dakota I completed my Masters Degree in Geography and South Dakota State University under the tutelage of Dr. Fritz Gritzner.  It was through his training that I developed my appreciation for Human Geography.

Hired in 2000 I returned to the Brainerd High School and have continued to serve the community that helped to make me who I am today.  In 2011 I was selected as the Curriculum Leader and Department Chair of the Social Studies as well as the Brainerd Teacher of the Year.  In 2012 I was honored to represent the Brainerd Schools as a finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

All in all, I am proud to be a member of the staff here in the Brainerd Schools and I hope to provide the students with an experience in education that they will remember.
