Gifted Services at Chaska Elementary

A little about me-

This is my nineteenth year of teaching at Chaska Elementary School. I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and my Masters of Education at the Univeristy of St. Thomas. I live in Shorewood with my husband and two children, Madison and Wylie.  Madison and Wylie are in 5th grade.  Wylie enjoys soccer,  football, swimming, playdates, and basketball.  Madison enjoys art, science, gymnastics, dance, playdates, several clubs at school and Girl Scouts.  My husband, Rob, is in sales and enjoys restoring his Firebird Pontiac, boating and the Packers. As a family we love to boat on Lake Minnetonka and enjoy going to Florida.

A little about Gifted Services-

Gifted Services focuses on developing critical and creative thinking skills through a variety of themed units and other problem-solving activities. I believe every learning environment should be a safe place where learning is fun, challenge is a priority and mistakes are acceptable. The goal is for all learners to be successful, challenged and confident in their learning.

At CES I work with students in a variety of ways.  I am also a resource for teachers who have questions or need support meeting the needs of high ability learners.  All teachers at CES differentiate and have been trained on how to meet the needs of high ability learners. The goal is to challenge many talented students every day, not just a few students once a week. All students deserve a rigorous curriculum that meets their academic and social-emotional needs. My job is to work with both teachers and students to facilitate some of those challenges.
