Pre- Algebra and Digits

Pre- Algebra and Digits students are both working on advanced grade level math curriculum. The pre-algebra class uses the Big Ideas math curriculum that is used by all of the middles schools. This is considered a 1.0 Pre- Algebra class and will be graded in Empower. I follow the middles school scope and sequence and use the pre-algebra Power Standards. Digits is an online course from Pearson Realize chosen by middle school and elementary teachers together. This 7th grade curriculum we feel meets the needs of students who have completed pre-algebra, without moving them up into an Algebra course in elementary school. All of the students in the Digits curriculum and most of the students in the Big Ideas curriculum will move onto Algebra in 6th grade. I will have a discussion with parents if I feel taking pre-algebra again would be beneficial for your learner.
