The Chanhassen High School Choral Program consists of 260 singers in grades 9-12.  There are 5 curricular choirs; The Freshmen Women’s Chorale, Vivace which is mainly a sophomore mixed choir, Bel Canto, an upper class advanced women’s choir, Men’s Chorale made up of men in grades 9-12, and the Concert Choir.  There are three co-curricular choirs; The Chamber Singers, a select group of 20 singers from the Concert Choir, Vox, a select group of 12 women, and Men Who Sing which consists of men in grades 9-12.  The program consistently has students performing at the region solo and ensemble contest and receiving “Best-in-Site” honors.  Several students have been selected to be members of the ACDA 9-10 Honors and in the MN All-State Choirs.  The Chanhassen High School Concert Choir is one of five curricular choral ensembles at the school.  This 70 member auditioned ensemble consists of sophomores, juniors and seniors.  The choir participates annually in festivals and contests, including the Dorian Invitational Choral Festival at Luther College, and the Clearwater Choral Festival at the University of WI, Eau Claire.  The choir was also a part of the Cantus High School in Residency Program during the 2012-2013 school year.  In the fall of 2013 the women of the Concert Choir were invited to perform with the women of Wayzata and White Bear Lake High Schools at the ACDA of MN State Conference under the direction of Dr. Edith Copley.  The choir has had the opportunity to work with several outstanding choral directors including, Dr. Allen Hightower, Luther College, Dr. Gary Walth, University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, Dr. Patrick O’Shea, St. Mary’s in Winona, Dr. Alan Riech, University of WI – Eau Claire, Dr. Brandon Dean, Gustavus Adolphus College.
