The Centre for International Security Studies (CISS) was established to produce innovative, multidisciplinary academic research and education programs focusing on international security and foreign policy issues. The CISS analyses international and human security challenges facing Australia, Asia and the world, and is uniquely positioned to analyse and interpret the strategic implications of world events for governments, businesses and individuals. The Centre for International Security Studies (CISS) in the Faculty of Economics and Business seeks to appoint an Associate Professor (Level D) in International Security, with significant expertise in the Asia Pacific region. 

The successful applicant will be expected to make substantial contributions to both undergraduate and postgraduate course and program development and supervise postgraduate research. Further to this, the successful applicant will undertake expansive research in the field of International Security resulting in a significant number of publications in leading international journals.

Applicants will need to possess a PhD in International Relations or cognate discipline as well as a demonstrated ability to publish in the leading journals in International Security and related disciplines. Along with a proven ability to attract competitive research funding, applicants will need to possess expertise in one or more of the major areas of international security with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific region. Furthermore, applicants should have a proven demonstrated capacity in creating a public profile as well as having attained recognition at a national and/or international level in International Security. 

The position is a full-time continuing appointment subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees with the possibility of further offer of employment. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: Level D base salary range ($112,465 to $123,898); leave loading and 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation.
