The Curriculum in International and Area Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a faculty position at the lecturer level to start as of July 1, 2010. The position is a fixed term appointment of three years.
International and Area Studies (CIAS) is an interdisciplinary curriculum which focuses on the ways in which global forces shape and transform political, economic and cultural change (http://www.unc.edu/depts/ints/). CIAS is one of the fastest growing undergraduate majors at UNC and draws on faculty expertise from across the University.
The lecturer will share the teaching responsibilities for the CIAS introductory survey course and the honors thesis course, and have the scope to teach in their field of specialization. The position will also assist CIAS majors in arranging international internships. Competitive candidates will have Ph.D. in any field of the humanities, social sciences, law or global health, with an international focus, and a demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
