We invite applications for the position of Professor in the Department of Political Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Cape Town. The Department of Political Studies offers programmes and courses in political science, international relations, political theory, and public policy and administration. The Department attracts undergraduates from across the continent and has a lively and cosmopolitan postgraduate student community. 

This senior appointment requires: • specific expertise in the fields of International Relations and Political Economy, and a broad background in Political Studies • a record of excellence in publications as reflected in peer-reviewed articles and books • a proven track record of postgraduate supervision • a proven track record of excellence in both postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.

The appointee will be expected to serve as head of department when requested, a position requiring intellectual and managerial leadership, as well as experience in academic administration.

The annual remuneration package for 2009, including benefits, is R560 806.
