Visiting Assistant Professor of Conflict Analysis and Transformation
The Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame invites applications for Visiting Assistant Professor of Conflict Analysis and Transformation. This is a two-year position that begins August 22, 2014, with the expectation of full-time work during the academic year. This position will be expected to carry a 2/2 teaching load, with courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
The Visiting Assistant Professor will be primarily engaged in the MA in International Peace Studies program, a highly selective graduate program that prepares an internationally diverse group of students for careers as professional peacebuilding practitioners. The successful candidate will be a part of the Conflict Analysis and Transformation professional track area which focuses on assessing the nature and dynamics of conflict as well as developing strategies for managing and transforming conflict into more positive relationships, sustainable peace, and just societies. The position will be expected to anchor the year-long Approaches to Conflict Transformation course that trains students in skills ranging from mediation and negotiation to ally roles and systems design. In addition, the lecturer will be centrally involved with mentoring students who are preparing for and engaging in field internships with international peace and justice organizations. The lecturer will also be invited to share his or her research with the Kroc Institute community, participate in committees related to the MA program and be an active member of the interdisciplinary Kroc Institute faculty.
Candidates should have completed a PhD in Conflict Resolution, Peace Studies or a related field by the start of the appointment and have a successful record of teaching and publication. Candidates with practice experience related to conflict transformation are preferred.
