Faculty Position in International Relations/American Studies
Fall 2009

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane has one new opening in International Relations/American Studies/Political Science, to begin in Fall 2009. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses on U.S. history, society, and government, in addition to basic undergraduate classes in Comparative Political Systems. Other courses include American Foreign Policy in the Middle East and North Africa, and US-European Relations. Applicants must have a PhD at time of hire. Teaching experience is desirable, but newly graduated PhDs are encouraged to apply. All teaching is conducted in English, and a working knowledge of French and/or Arabic is recommended. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

THE UNIVERSITY: Al Akhawayn University is a private English-language university in Morocco built on the American model of higher education. The university is composed of approximately 1,300 undergraduate and master's level students in a residential campus environment. The main campus of the university is located in Ifrane, a resort town in the Middle Atlas Mountains approximately 60km from the Imperial cities of Fez and Meknes. The university also has a campus center in the commercial center of Casablanca with a focus on professional and executive programs. Ifrane is a resort town located in the Middle Atlas region, enjoying one-hour access to Fez and Meknes -- which are UN World Heritage cities.
