AYSO Region 213

AYSO All-Stars is a secondary season for players who played in the primary program of AYSO in the fall. (EXTRA players are not eligible.) The All-Star season plays games in Janurary and early February. Practices start in December.
Players are expected to commit to the All Star season. After that season if a player and/or team wishes to continue to play in the spring accomodations can be made for Spring Select play. See the Spring Select information sheet.
Games are played within the seven (7) regions that make up Area Q – North Irvine, South Irvine, Corona del Mar, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Tustin, and Yorba Linda. 
All-Star play is competitive and intended for players with advanced soccer skills, athleticism, and the desire and drive to compete.
All-Star play starts at the Under 9 level and continues through Under 14.
2012 Coach Applications

 Coaches are required to meet the certification requirements as set by Area 11Q. These requirements can be found here. Courses can be taken anywhere to ensure compliance with the requirements. If you are short one course usually they are available sometime in December or early January.
2012 Coach Selection Process
1.      All-Star Coaches will be selected by the executive committee of Region 213. The committee will review all applications and seek input from division commissioners as well as the Regional Commissioner, Regional Referee Administrator, and Regional Coach Administrator.
2.      All-Star Coach Selection Process and Timetable:
    All-Star Coach application completed and submitted no later than October 12th.
    All-Star Coach selection to occur by October 17th.

3.     All-Star player selection –Section 11 Rules and Regulations states that “All-star teams shall be formed no sooner than November 15th.” However, coaches may inquire as to whether a player is interested in playing on an All-Star team.
    All-Star Team practices may begin after November 15th.
    Final All-Star rosters, uniform orders and player fees are due no later than December 1st. (uniform supplier is SoccerGarage.com)
    Note - should a player be participating in Area League playoffs their participation on that team has priority over practicing with the All Star team.
4.      General All-Star Coach Consideration Criteria (NOTE: Consideration Criteria are guidelines only for All-Star Coach selection.)
    Coach must be currently in good standing with the Region
    Coach must be registered for current season as well as comply with Area 11Q coach certification criteria
   Consideration is given to total coach experience - total years and All Star/Flex Extra experience.
   Consideration is given for other years of service in Region 213 including referee, board positions, or primary volunteer positions.
    Coaching experience – total years and All-Star/Plus Team coaching experience
    Continually demonstrates a coaching style of P.I.E.  (positive, instructional and encouraging)
    Abides by the AYSO Philosophies as indicated by actions (positive coaching and sportsmanship) at practice and on the field.
5. Selection of Teams
Teams shall be selected via a tryout process with independent evaluators. Dates and times shall be posted soon but are expected to be in late October. Look for a calendar and tryout schedule soon. These will be held in a format similar to the Flex EXTRA tryouts.
