Language Arts 9 &
Language Arts 9 Honors
In this course students will have the opportunity to study language and how it relates to sentence structure and paragraph structure. Students will have opportunities to compose meaningful essays, including argumentative and research writing. Students will also become more familiar with and analyze a variety of literature and literary genres. 


Reading
This course provides an opportunity for students to develop an enjoyment for reading as a lifelong way to learn.  Students will also be provided with opportunities to improve their reading skills through word recognition and analysis, vocabulary building, development of fluency, and comprehension skills and strategies.  Students will read self-selected texts as well as assigned texts in whole class, small group, and individual settings. All types of reading will be included--both fiction and non-fiction.


English 11
In this course, students will enrich their reading and writing skills through daily vocabulary and grammar exercises, analysis of non-fiction, composition of essays, and study of a variety of literature and literary genres. Through this process, students will learn things to better prepare them for college and/or the work force. The 11th grade course is primarily based on American literature and authors.

English 12
In this course, students will enrich their reading and writing skills through daily vocabulary, writing, and grammar exercises, analysis of non-fiction, composition of essays, and study of a variety of literature and literary genres. Through this process, students will learn things to better prepare them for college and/or the work force. The 112h grade course is primarily based on British Literature along with the history and development of the English language.
