The VIII Irish Cytometry Society Conference

Galway, Ireland, 6-7 November, 2012

Flow cytometry continues to be one of the most important techniques available to life scientists, both in research and clinical settings. As applications rapidly expand it is essential for users to be aware of these developments, and how they can use the methods to maximize their work output.

The Irish Cytometry Society (ICyS) was set up in 2005 to provide a forum for all who work in cytometry (flow cytometry and allied technologies) in Ireland. With members involved in fields as varied as marine biology, microbiology, immunology, drug development, neuroscience, haematology, nanotechnology, and clinical cytometry, this makes for a vibrant group, with scientists from diverse fields bringing their different perspectives and expertise.

In addition to the annual meetings, the society serves to provide members with a network to keep informed of developments, employment opportunities, as well as communications and requests regarding instrumentation, reagents, experimental design, etc.

With a conference towards the end of each year, this is a great opportunity to keep abreast of advancements, liaise with colleagues, as well as interact with reagent and instrumentation vendors. These have proven hugely popular, with an annual attendance of more than 100 registrants.

The next ICyS annual conference will be held in the National University of Ireland, Galway, on November 6th and 7th, 2012, and we look forward to another successful meeting. We encourage all those who work in cytometry and related technologies, both based in Ireland and overseas, to join us.
