In 3rd grade we focus on 4 types of writing:

• Informational (researching a topic and reporting that information out to others)
• Opinion (choosing a stance and defending it by using strong evidence)
• Narrative (fictional stories and stories about themselves)
• Academic (responding to questions about what they have read and preparing for the state ELA test).

Students will do a mix of guided writing instruction and time to explore writing on their own. The goal is to make writing FUN!
