Getting Started With Your Homepage


What would you like to do?

    Change the Name of Your Site
    • Click the gear icon in the top-right corner.
    • Select "Manage Site" near the bottom of the list.
    • Type the name of your site in the "Site name" box (eg "Mr. Keaton's Class" or "Algebra 1").
    • Click the red "Save" button near the top of the page.
    Edit the Announcements, Dates, and Be in Touch Boxes
    • Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner to enter editing mode.
    • Click in the box you want to change.
    • Delete placeholder text and insert new text.
    • Click the blue "Save" button in the top-left corner.
    Change the Placeholder Image
    • Locate an image you would like to have on your welcome page and save it to your desktop.  Images should be wider than they are tall.
    • Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the page to enter editing mode. 
    • Click on the placeholder image.  Then, click on the "X" in the pop-up menu to remove it.
    • Click in the box where you want to add your picture.
    • Add your new picture by going to to the "Insert" menu and selecting "Image."
    • Click "Upload Images," and select the image you saved to your desktop.  Click "OK."
    • The picture might be too big.  To resize the picture click "100%" in the pop-up menu.
    • All done!  Click the blue "Save" button in the top-right corner.
    Update the About the Class Page
    • Click on "About the Class" in the navigation menu on the left of the page.
    • Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the page to enter editing mode.
    • Update the placeholder text to fit the needs of your class.
    • Click the blue "Save" button.
    Update the Class Resources Page
    • Click on "Class Resources" in the navigation menu on the left of the page.
    • Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the page to enter editing mode.
    • Update the placeholder text to fit the needs of your class.
    • Click the blue "Save" button.
    Rename the Placeholder Pages
    • Click on the Unit 1 page from the navigation menu on the left of the page.
    • Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner to enter editing mode.
    • You can now change the name of this page.  (eg "Ancient Egypt," "Math," or "Inequalities."
    • Click the blue "Save" button in the top-left corner.
    • Repeat this process for the remaining placeholder pages.
    Update the Links in the Navigation Menu
    • Click the gear icon in the top-right corner.
    • Select "Edit Site Layout."
    • Click in the links menu to open the editing menu.
    • Update your "School Home" link:
      • Double-click "School Home."
      • Change "text to display" to the name of your school.  (eg "Metea Home" or "Gombert Home.")
      • Change the URL to your school's homepage.  (eg. mvhs.ipsd.org or gombert.ipsd.org)
    • Update the placeholder links:
      • Use the same process as for the School Home link.
      • To delete a link, single-click on the link and click on the trash can icon to the right of the list.
      • To add a new link, click "Add URL" on the bottom-right corner of the links list.
      • To move a new, single-click on the link and use the arrows to the right of the list.
    Add More Pages
      • Click the "Create Page" button in the top-right corner.
      • Type a name for your new page.
      • For most pages, use the "Default Page" template.
      • Click the red "Create" button near the top of the page.
      • You will need to turn off comments and attachments when creating a new page.  Guide available here.  
      Remove Placeholder Pages
        • Go to the page you want to delete by using the navigation menu on the left of the page.
        • Click the gear icon in the top-right corner.
        • Select "Delete Page."
        • Click the red "Delete" button to confirm.
        Make Your Website Public
          • Click on the blue "Share" button in the top-right corner.
          • Click on the word "Change" under "Who has access?"
          • Select "Public on the web."
          • Click the blue "Save" button.
