Google Classroom Update

Great news....Google Classroom released a new feature last week in order to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and give thanks to teachers all over the world. You will be happy to read that this update will enhance the use of Google Classroom with our students. You can now schedule all posts (announcements, assignments, and questions) in Google Classroom for a later date and/or specific time. This feature will provide a great opportunity for teachers who like to plan ahead and get organized for the week, month, unit, year, etc. hero_logo.png

It is finally happening!!!! Next fall, Classroom will offer parent/guardian notifications in order to keep them in the loop with what is happening in your class.

Google Slides Update - Q&A

Google just released a Q&A feature to use with Google Slides to give the viewers an opportunity to ask questions as they view a presentation. Slides Q&A is a back channel and provides a way to interact with audience members.

Google Keep is a beneficial note taking app that works directly with users’ Google Accounts. In Google Keep, users can store text, images, voice notes, and links. In addition, notes can be shared with other Google users in order to take collaboration and communication to the next level. Notes can be color coded, tagged, and reminders can be set for organization and accessibility. If you have not tried Google Keep, you are missing out!

It gets even better.....Google released an extension last week that allows users the ability to save items to Google Keep in a single click. It saves URLs, text, and images. During this process, users can take notes on the saved content and add labels. From there, it saves directly to Google Keep.


Between the web version, new Chrome extension, and wonderfully developed mobile App, staying organized has never been easier thanks to Google Keep!

Monday, April 18th - Chrome Extensions of the Week - OneTab and TabCloud

Whenever you find yourself with too many tabs, click the OneTab icon to convert all of your tabs into a list. When you need to access the tabs again, you can either restore them individually or all at once.

Tab Cloud allows you to save any window session and restore it at a later date or on another computer. Effectively allowing you to sync open tabs between multiple computers.

With the help of Google Docs, creating has never been easier and more collaborative for our students. In addition,the Google Drive helps provide a paperless classroom and eliminates clutter for teachers. With the increase in production, it can be difficult for teachers to keep up with the grading load. JoeZoo is a beneficial grading Add-on that helps teachers eliminate the hours of grading required to keep up with student production with three grading tools: (1) Writing Feedback, (2) Rubric Builder, (2) Grading Assignments. The tools “are automated, teacher-designed, preloaded with feedback and requires no student installation.”  This Add-On makes teachers feel at ease as they have their students create, create, and create in their student-centered classrooms. #whatsup

A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration.
Screencastify is a simple video screen capture software (aka. screencast recorder) for Chrome. You are able to record all screen activity inside a tab, including audio. Just press record and the content of your tab is recorded. So you can easily create a screencast for video tutorials, record presentations etc. It also supports desktop capturing, allowing you to record anything on your screen (not just tabs).

Google Docs Quick Create and Save to Drive


Ideas come to us at any time, and the Quick Create extension makes it easy to create a Google Doc, Sheet, Presentation, Drawing, or Form at any time when logged into Chrome. After installing, users can create as much as they want, and the Google Doc, Sheet, Presentation, Drawing, or Form will save automatically in their Google Drives.


Save to Google Drive is an extension that helps users save web content directly to their Google Drives. Users can save web pages, documents, images, audio, and video by right clicking and selecting ‘Save to Google Drive.’

Add-On of the Week: Save to Doc

It can be challenging to read information in a spreadsheet. Save to Doc is a Google Sheet Add-on that transforms any spreadsheet into a Google Doc and automatically saves it to your Google Drive. After installing the Add-on, users have the option to select all or some of the content in a spreadsheet, add column headings in order to keep the information organized, and add page breaks between different rows.


Since data collected through a Google Form populates in a Google Sheet, the Save to Doc Add-on is a wonderful resource for teachers who create and utilize assessments and surveys using Google Forms in their classrooms.
