7A Math is the accelerated junior high math class. We will be covering a combined curriculum from 7th and 8th grade math classes. At the completion of this class, the student will be prepared to enter Algebra 1 as their math class for 8th grade. They DO receive high school credit for this Algebra 1 class and it DOES count towards their high school GPA. Before agreeing to place your student in this class, parents need to realize that you are committing to a rigorous 7th grade schedule. If your child really struggles with the work load and/or pace of material, they may be recommended for regular 8th grade math instead of Algebra 1. Students taking Algebra 1 as 8th graders would then progress to Geometry as 9th graders.
Students should expect to have daily homework assignments that require work outside of the classroom. As of the 2021-2022 school year, we will be transitioning to a standards referenced grading system using the 0-4 scale. I expect that students will work hard, respect me as well as their classmates, arrive to class on time and with the proper materials, and be ready to LEARN!!
Canvas and Powerschool are used at the Junior/Senior High School and students will be expected to use both of these. Parents may also set up a Canvas account to "follow" their student(s).
