Speaker Bios and Other Information

  • Dave Bassett

David Bassett has been a Patent Agent registered to practice before the US
Patent and Trademark Office since 2004 and has experience in optics,
acoustics, mechanical, business method, computer, and biomechanical utility
patenting, and design patenting.

Mr. Bassett has experience with a wide range of services practicing before
the US Patent and Trademark Office including filing provisional patent
applications, non-provisional patent applications, patent cooperation treaty
applications, assignment agreements, patent issuance fees, and successful
patent prosecutions.

Mr. Bassett received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Clarkson University
in 1988 and his Master of Science Degree from University of Houston in 1991.
He has worked as a Chemical Engineer for Consulting and Manufacturing Firms
for 14 years. While working as a Chemical Engineer, Mr. Bassett attended
the University of Rochester's Simon School of Business where he received his
MBA and earned the 2004 Hugh H. Whitney Award as the Outstanding Student of
his class.
  • Dennis Root

Mr. Roote is president of CDE Engineering and Environment, PLLC.  He has over 25 years of experience in the areas of civil, environmental and water resources engineering to include but not limited to:

·         Analysis and design of storm water management systems including surface water flow modeling for residential commercial, and industrial sites;

·         Environmental infrastructure analysis to include release risk analysis, secondary containment inspection/evaluation, and tank evaluations.

·         Analysis and design of Industrial water treatment systems

·         Analysis and design of solid waste facilities and hazardous waste/material storage buildings.

·         Groundwater flow modeling analysis/interpretation and design in support of new water supply systems;

·        regulatory compliance plans, reports, and designs in support of the Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, National Environmental Protection Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Cleanup and Liability Act (Superfund/SARA). 

·         Submission of permit application documents for Title V Air Facility permits, RACT and BACT analysis;

·          Construction permit applications for air emissions sources. 

  • Terry Rogelstad is a Sales Engineer with Pfeiffer Vacuum.  He has 30 years of experience designing, building and operating vacuum systems for R&D and manufacturing applications.

  • Ralph Kraft is Founder/CEO of R. Kraft. Inc. (RKI) which was established in 1977 to provide the certification of cleanrooms/clean air devices and troubleshooting of existing cleanroom facilities to those using cleanroom facilities.  

    Based upon his many years of troubleshooting and certifying cleanrooms, Ralph has developed training seminars for cleanroom constructors, operators, maintenance and custodial personnel, development/implementation of cleanroom/cleanspace SOP's and offers design assistance from a service providers viewpoint to those contemplating a cleanroom.

    Ralph is the co-author of the globally accepted cleanroom operations manual "Cleansweep-Cleanroom Compendium" and "Cleanrooms on Tight $$$" along with numerous articles pertaining to the design and operations of cleanrooms in various publications and speaks frequently at various conferences where cleanroom and cleanspace manufacturing is a concern. 

  • Lee Drake  

     has extensive speaking experience. He's spoken on topics such as computer security, programming best practices, building content managed websites, building online communities, virus and spyware prevention, social media, and a variety of other computer-related topics.  Lee has built a world-wide following of users who rely on him to get up-to-date computer, security, social media and information technology news. In addition, Lee has participated in a number of discussion panels on  wide-ranging business-related topics, including health insurance for small businesses, legislative issues for NYS businesses, workmen's comp, 240/241 reform, and Medicaid/Medicare reform. He participated in a panel sponsored by then Senator Hillary Clinton on the challenges of providing health care to small businesses. 

    As a member of the Rochester Professional Consultants Network Lee has spoken on panels ranging from computer solutions for small businesses, building an online presence for your consulting organization, web advertising, and search engine optimization, to the challenges of building a consulting organization. As 50% owner of Aztek Computer Solutions, Inc., Lee helped build a Rochester Top 100 company. As President and CEO of OS-Cubed, Inc., Lee is well on the way to creating his next Top 100 company.

  • Dave Bassett

Dave has been a Patent Agent registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office since 2004 and has experience in biomedical, optics, business method, and computer utility patenting, and design patenting.  In 2005, he started Bassett Statistical Company LLC, a full service consulting firm serving the needs of individual inventors and small businesses.  The company specializes in solving problems regarding operations, finance, and intellectual property issues. 

Dave worked as a Chemical Engineer for Consulting and Manufacturing Firms for 14 years.  While working as a Chemical Engineer, Dave attended the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business where he received his MBA and earned the 2004 Hugh H. Whitney Award as the Outstanding Student of his class.  Dave has a broad background and is familiar with a wide range of businesses from manufacturing and contract packaging, to environmental, oil & gas, biomedical, and microelectronics.  He is an experienced ISO 9001 auditor and has been trained in Kaizen and lean manufacturing.  Dave is a Director of the Rochester Chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a member of the Independent Entrepreneurs Council, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the National Association of Patent Practitioners.
