Parent Teacher Conferences

posted Nov 9, 2018, 2:16 PM by Karen Sandusky

When:

Monday, November 19, 2018 from Noon - 8:00pm

Dinner break 5:00 - 6:00 pm (Please respect our meal time)

Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 7:00 - 11:00 am

Where:

Middle School Teachers will be in their classrooms.  If you wish to meet with Mr. Moritz to discuss PE, he will meet with parents in the STEM Room, #252.

How:

  • Meet with any or all of your child's teachers

  • Parents DO NOT sign up in advance for a time slot with a teacher.  You are able to meet any time during the conference hours - first come, first served style.  There will be chairs waiting if the teachers are meeting with another parent at that time.

  • Each conversation should last no more that 5-10 minutes.  If you will need more time, please make an appointment outside of conferences to discuss at length.

Why:

1. This is a great opportunity to discuss ways to help your child become a better student (teacher & parent partnership)

2. To finally get a chance to meet the teachers and talk to them in person

3. To find out what your child is really learning in class (besides "nothing")

How can I prepare?

Consider these questions:

  1. Do you have any special concerns about your child's progress, learning skills, or social skills?

  2. Ask your child if they have any questions or concerns for you to discuss with the teacher.

  3. What school topics does your child talk about the most?  What does he/she seem most excited about?

  4. What do you think are your child's strengths & weaknesses?

  5. What subjects or types of assignments seem most difficult for your child?

  6. How do you think your child learns best ~ by watching, listening, doing, working alone, or with others?

  7. What is your child passionate about?  What activities is he/she engaged in outside of school?

  8. What can we, as teachers, do to help your child succeed?

The PTL is hard at work preparing for this year's Walk-A-Thon.  As part of that students are collecting loose change which is turned in every Friday for the next three Fridays.  The class with the highest total each week wins an ice cream party!  Don't forget to bring in your loose change!
