A very warm welcome to Year 1.

Please don't hesitate to come and see us if you have any queries.

During our first term we are learning about buildings in our country and all around the world. As part of this topic the children explored the story 'The Three Little Pigs'.

Please click on the 'Year 1 Blog' link below to find out more about what we have been learning.

We are trying to encourage parents to read, listen and share stories with their children as much as possible, ideally at least 10 minutes every day.

Every week the children will choose a new reading book to take home to share with you. Your child does not have to read the book, it is simply an opportunity to share it together. Once you have finished, please could you write the title, date and any comments in the reading record book provided. If you have any books at home which the children are keen to share with you, feel free to write those in the reading record as well.

Occasionally you might like to borrow a reading scheme book for your child to read. We will provide these so that they can show you how their reading is improving. The most important thing is just to enjoy reading with your child.

Every Friday the children will bring home some maths homework which has been covered during lessons that week. This is an opportunity for you and your child to practice and share their learning. The links will take you to maths games which we regularly use at school.
