Attendance

Attendance policy for Monsoon’15:

The attendance policy has now been simplified.
No attendance will be taken for CodeClasses. CodeClasses will be open-to-all sessions which will start from very basics at the start of each academic year and will see a progressive increase in difficulty.
Attendance in contests will be taken for FooBar members. Attendance will be counted only if there has been at least 1 correct submission. After the initial period of 4 contests, the attendance percentage shall never drop below 50%.

Attendance policy for Winter’15:

A new 2-point attendance policy is being adopted for Winter 2015 semester. Attendance percentage of previous semesters will not be accounted in this semester.
Each event will have a minimum of 0 point and maximum of 2 attendance points:
  • For contests: 1 point will be awarded for making at least 1 correct submission during the contest. 1 point will be awarded for attending the discussion session.
  • For CodeClasses: 1 point will be awarded for attending the CodeClass and 1 point for completing the task (i.e. for correctly solving the designated problem) within given number of day(s). For batches other than the first year, attendance in CodeClass Jr. will not be required, however they may earn bonus attendance points by attending and/or solving the problem of CodeClass Jr.
Also, in addition to above, a member can earn even more bonus points by solving problems in CodeChef's Monthly Long Challenge. He may earn points according to the following criteria (the score is out of 1000):
  • <=250 score : No attendance pts
  • 251 : 450 score: 1 attendance pt
  • 451 : 650 score: 2 attendance pts
  • 651 : 850 score: 3 attendance pts
  • 850+ : 4 attendance pts

If attendance percentage [calculated as ratio of (100 * attendance points) to (2 * number of sessions held)] drops below 35% at any time, it'll lead to expulsion from the club.
A member will not be removed until they've had the opportunity to attend at least 4 sessions since their joining.

The attendance percent threshold for admins shall be 50%.
If one of the mentors is expelled from the club then they can join back as members through contests but will not be part of the decision making body. New Mentor may be chosen from the club members, if required.

Attendance policy for Monsoon'14:
FooBar will be hosting 3 sessions every 2 weeks for this semester: CodeClass, ProSort contest, and CodeClass Jr.
The attendance policy for this semester (Monsoon'14) is:
  • For B.Tech. 13, 12, 11 and M.Tech. 13 members: Any member with Attendance percentage less than 50.00% at any point of time will be automatically removed from the club, i.e. you must have your attendance percentage for this semester greater than or equal to 50% at all times (Note that CodeClass Jr will not be accounted for this)

  • For B.Tech. 14 members: Any member with attendance percentage less than 35% would be automatically removed from the club. Their attendance would be accounted in all the 3 sessions (although they're recommended to attend either only CodeClass or CodeClass Jr - NOT BOTH!)

  • For admins (most strict policy): A FooBar admin shall have attendance percentage greater than or equal to 50% at all times. The total number of sessions (the denominator in %age) will include ALL the FooBar sessions.
If one of the mentors is expelled from the club then they can join back as members through contests but will not be part of the decision making body. New Mentor may be chosen from the club members, if required.

Also, no members/admins would be asked to leave the club before 30th August 2014, i.e. you can improve your attendance ratio by 30th Aug. After 30th Aug, the attendance percentage shall not drop to less than 50%.

Attendance policy for Winter'14:
Our schedule is divided into groups of 2 weeks, having CodeClasses on both the Tuesdays and 1 contest on a Thursday.
For Members: From these three events, member must attend at least one event to stay in the club.
For Mentors: He/She must be present in at-least every alternate event. If one of the mentors is expelled from the club then they can join back as members through contests but will not be part of the decision making body. New Mentor may be chosen from the club members, if required.
