We had our first meeting in C02, at 5:30 PM.

Main points:

  • Importance of competitive programming was discussed. It’s important that we realize that being a CS student in a technical institute like ours, our programming skills shall be good enough and we shall be able to procure good ranks in ICPC and similar contests. Also, competitive programming would help in placement interviews too. Hence, undoubtedly, we all need to devote time towards the club activities.

  • The club would have its activity every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. (for 2 hours or so).

  • A contest of 75-90 minutes would be held every alternate week (once in a fortnight) with 3-4 problems, which would be followed by a discussion session wherein the solutions and various approaches of the contest problems would be discussed.

  • The contest problems would be made by (at least) 3 people voluntarily. If no one volunteers, then the winners of the previous contest would make and test the problems of the next contest.

  • Code Class: Discussion on some topic (some algo, tricks, etc.) would be held in the week with no contest.
    -------Updated on 3rd March, 2014----

  • Attendance policy: Our schedule is divided into groups of 2 weeks. One Week we will have a CodeClassSenior(Thursday) and in other week we will have a contest(Tuesday) and CodeClassJunior(Thursday).
For Members: From these three events member must attend atleast one event to stay in the club.
For Mentors: He/She must be present in at-least every alternate event. If one of the mentors is expelled from the club then they can join back as members through contests but will not be part of the decision making body. New Mentor may be chosen from the club members, if required.
    --------------------------------------------

  • A non-mandatory placement session would be held every 3 week or so to discuss placement-specific questions.

  • All these 3 club activities would be open to all (even non-members).
However, being a club member one would get these benefits:

    • ICPC travel and other expenses would be reimbursed only to the members of the club.

    • Only the members of the club would be eligible for prizes of our biweekly contests.

    • Consistent performers might get club T-Shirts.

    • Few top-performers would be officially representing the club in ICPC, if they want to.

  • Next Contest on 20th Feb, 2014 @ 5:30 p.m. to be organized by Ashish Khatkar, Magus Verma, Shubhorup Biswas and Maneet Singh.

  • Next (Code Class) Session: 13th Feb, 2014 @ 5:30 PM (Venue yet to be decided)

  • If you wish to be the CodeChef Campus Chapter Coordinator of your batch, kindly fill this form by 8th Feb 2014, 11:59 p.m.
