Greetings! My name is Rikki Clemens and I am the new K-6
school counselor here at Idaho Arts Charter School. This is my first year as a school
counselor but I may be a familiar face as I was lucky enough to complete my
internship here with Erinn Urquiaga, the existing school counselor. I graduated
this past March with a master’s degree in counseling and became a licensed professional
counselor and received my Pupil Personnel Certification in May 2016. Rest
assured that I bring several years of experience working with children in
varied capacities. Since 2013 I have used my education and talents as a Family
Preservation Specialist; this job is a combination of case management, social
work, and counseling. I loved this job since my main focus was helping families
reunite after a child was removed by Children and Family Services or through
the Department of Juvenile Corrections. In this job I was able to learn about
the different systems our children and their families may experience at some
point and time in their life. This also allowed me to learn of the vast amounts
of community resources available. Now that I have completed my master’s degree
in school counseling I am excited to start my new career journey as the counselor
here at IACS. I hope to be able to share my past experience as well as bring in
new ideas to enhance your student’s academic, personal/social, and career
development. I am looking forward to an exciting year of working with the students!
I was born here in Boise and have lived most of my life here in the Treasure Valley; I currently live in Meridian with my family. In our free time you might find us at the ball field watching my son play baseball, walking around at the Saturday morning Farmers Market in downtown Boise, Strolling around the Village trying to catch some Pokemon, or participating in many of the other events our community has to offer. Other tidbits about me include I love to cook, I am a Pinterest junkie, love to listen to music and play the piano, and love spending time with my family and friends.
I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to work with the
amazing staff and students here at IACS; it is going to be an amazing year! If
you get the chance stop by my office, in either building, and say "hi"; I would love to get to know
each and every one of you! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or feel that your student would benefit from meeting with me; 208-463-4324 ext 304 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
