About your teacher...

Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year!

My name is Tami Lyons and this will be my first year at IACS!  I am both honored and excited to be a part of such an amazing group of people. I knew in 3rd grade that I wanted to be a teacher and this will be my 11th year of teaching.  I took a little time off in the middle of my career to be a mom!  My husband and I have 3 awesome children.  Maddy, 20, is a junior at University of Idaho (Yes, I am a Vandal!) majoring in Secondary Education. She is president of her sorority (Delta Zeta) and plays drums in the Marching Band.  Michael is 16 and a Junior at Columbia High School. He plays varsity football and baseball. When he isn't on the field, he is usually at the lake fishing.  My youngest child, Charlie, is a 5th grader at Ronald Reagan Elementary. He is my dancer, singer, actor, and creator.  He also plays football, but would much rather be making videos on Musically! Outside of teaching I love to read, craft, hike, camp, boat, water ski, roller skate, and ride bikes.
I received my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho and have not stopped pursuing education since.  I honestly love learning!  So much knowledge...so little time!   As a teacher, I believe in working closely with parents/families. My approach to learning is to meet the needs of the whole child.  Children all learn differently and come to me with different experiences. Our classroom is a busy place and I strive to make it a student centered environment.
Please join me at our new school on August 29th from 8-10 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. for an open house.  Please bring any supplies that you may have. I am looking forward to making this a great year with your child!
