Welcome to Mr. Hughes' Google site.  The purpose of this site is to allow students and parents access to my google classroom, procedures, and behavioral expectations, as well as lesson and unit plans, and links to my teaching philosophy and professional career.

Why I became an educator:

I decided to pursue a career in education because I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. Classrooms are powerful places that launch people's dreams and illuminate minds. It is a special thing to be a part of a person's education because through the process of learning people change; experiences are gained, and indelible marks are imprinted upon the instructor and the student.  To enrich a person's life with meaningful and unique experiences is wonderful and fulfilling.  I want to make a difference in people's lives, pushing them to excel beyond that which they dreamed of achieving; enlightening them to the possibilities of the future.

 Teacher Bio:

Hello to anyone and everyone.  I'm Kristin Hughes and I am a Social Studies teacher at Idaho Arts Charter School.  I have a Bachelors degree from Idaho State University with a double major in Secondary Education and History.  I also hold a Masters of Arts in Teaching History and an Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Idaho.

I teach American Government, U.S. History, and Global Perspectives at Idaho Arts Charter School.  I have been teaching for ten years and I have been at IACS since year one.  I love history and I thoroughly enjoy teaching history.  I am extremely comfortable with historical subject matter; I like to use primary and secondary sources in my teaching; and I love utilizing and supplementing lessons with outside materials in the classroom to create meaningful and challenging assignments for my students.

I enjoy lifting weights and exercise, fly fishing, backpacking, hanging with the family and traveling to new and interesting places.
