Attention Parents: Automatic E-Mail Service of Student's Google Classroom Assignments

Automatic Google Classroom Guardian E-mail Summaries

In an effort to provide our Science student's parents and guardians with pertinent information concerning their children's assignments I will be sending you an e-mail invitation to join Google Classroom “Guardian E-mail summaries” via Google Classroom.

This invitation will come from Google Classroom and will ask you to agree to have automatic e-mail updates of your child's assignments from the Google Classroom site.

This service will allow you to keep track of your student’s classroom progress through guardian e-mail summaries. You can choose the frequency of the emails—daily or weekly—and you can unsubscribe or remove yourself from this Classroom feature at any time.

Guardian email summaries include:

  • Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent
  • Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
  • Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers

As a guardian, you must receive and accept an email invitation before you can receive email summaries. Only teachers and administrators from your student’s school can send these invitations.

Please look for your e-mail invitation from Google Classroom concerning your child’s IACS Science class and respond. If you do not receive an e-mail invitation please contact me with the e-mail address that you would prefer and I send out a new invitation to you.

I highly recommend that you subscribe as it will allow you to more easily keep up with your child’s pending assignments, due dates, and if any assignments are currently late.

What is a Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.

Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.

Classroom was designed hand-in-hand with Google Apps for Education teachers to help them save time, keep classes organized, and improve communication with students.
