American Studies (period 2) and English 9 (period 3) are the only blocked core classes at Tate High School. This humanities course is driven by a chronological study of American history beginning at the 20th century, and is intended to ground American literature in the time period it represents. It is both reading and writing intensive, and is designed to incorporate all of the language arts goals of Tate’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan, as well as the ICCSD language arts standards and benchmarks.
