You do not need to have an agent to apply for an audition.

Audition Dates: 26th June – 29th June 2016.

City: Perth (All children must be residents of Western Australia)

Rehearsals will commence in mid August 2016 before opening in Perth in September 2016.

The children are expected to have a good level of skill in acting, singing (including part singing with harmonies) and dancing.

Auditions are by appointment only.

Sheet music will not be required, as all Auditionees will be taught a small section from the production during the auditions.

If you are successful at attaining an audition you will be advised of your date, your time, the venue and what you will need to wear at least 7 days prior to your audition.

Minimum age as of the 1st July 2016 is 6 years of age.

Applications close at 5pm on 13th June 2016.

THE AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION

KINKY BOOTS AUSTRALIA will be holding auditions for Melbourne based children who can act and sing. There are two male roles. Four boys will be chosen to share the role of Young Lola and four boys will be chosen to share the role of Young Charlie.

There are no female children in Kinky Boots.

Successful children will start rehearsals from September 2016. They will commence performances in Melbourne the following month (October 2016) at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

All terms of the engagement will be in accordance with the Department of State Development Business and Innovation – Mandatory Code of Practice for the Employment of Children 2014 (VIC) and the Performers Collective Agreement (2011-2013).

CASTING BRIEF

Male – YOUNG LOLA

Height: Must not exceed 140cm

Age Range: Children must be born before 26 September 2008 (+8yrs), with unbroken voice.

Must live within 110km commute from Melbourne CBD.

The character is Lola as a young boy whose father wants him to be a boxer, but he already knows he’s destined to wear high heels.  Appears in the opening and closing sequences of the show. Must have a great singing voice and be comfortable wearing high heels.

Important Ethnicity Note: This role is written for a non-caucasian (generally African heritage) boy. Caucasian candidates must be seen for the part of YOUNG CHARLIE instead (see below).

Height: Must not exceed 138cm

Age Range: Children must be born before 26 September 2008 (+8yrs), with unbroken voice.

Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of LES MISÉRABLES will be holding auditions in Brisbane for Australian based children who can act and sing. There is one male role and two female roles. Children will be required to tour internationally to Asia from February 2016.

The production is currently playing at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in Brisbane and will transfer to Manila, Philippines from March 2016 and then Singapore from May 2016.

Successful children will start rehearsals in Manila from early-February 2016. They will commence performances in Manila in March and then be required to tour to Singapore. Some children may also be invited to continue to tour Asia internationally into early 2017.

Male – GAVROCHE

The character is streetwise and tough, but likeable.

Note: Gavroche requires a strong actor and we’d encourage all candidates when preparing the material to do their very best to try and understand what Gavroche is singing about and what the lyrics of his songs mean.

Age Range: Children must be born before 16 March 2009 (+7yrs).

The character is sweet, with a soprano voice.

OPEN AUDITIONS

Due to the high volume of applicants expected, we may not be able to provide registered audition times for all artists that apply. Thus, anyone unsuccessful in gaining a registered audition time will be invited to attend our open auditions which will take place during the specified audition period. OTHER INFORMATION

- The casting break downs are very specific. Please read carefully.
- Mormon male ensemble need strong dance ability, including tap. Elder Price and Elder Cunningham will not
need to dance as part of their audition.
- For vocal auditions, we request a contemporary musical theater or pop song that shows off voice and
personality. We recommend staying away from songs that are written to be intentionally offensive,
slapstick, or over the top in the humor department. Sheet music only, no backing tracks.
- There are no roles in this production for Caucasian females.
- Principal covers will come from the ensemble.
- Applicants must be over 16 years of age at time of auditioning.
- Auditions are at the risk and financial responsibility of the auditionee.
- You should NOT dress in the "Mormon uniform" (dress shirt, tie, dress pants). You should wear something
youthful and clean cut. Jeans, converse and a nice colored polo or tshirt works best. Beards or other facial hair is not encouraged.

High Baritone who can pop out high Bb's.
