Call for Candidates to Run for HGCA Board

posted Sep 28, 2018, 11:23 AM by HGCA Secretary

Board Candidates Needed! Waheed Hassan, who was elected to the board in December, 2017, has been reassigned by his employer to San Francisco and has resigned from the board. This means that at the 2018 Annual Meeting in December we will have three open positions on the Board.  An election will be held to fill the two three-year terms that expire Dec. 31, 2018, and one two-year term for the position previously held by Waheed. The expiring three-year terms currently are held by Yanni Chryssimitis and Bruce Ware.

This is a call for candidates to stand for election to fill these three positions. We ask for anyone who would like to run for the open positions to please submit a short bio to board@huntersgreen.org 11:59 pm on November 16, 2018. Eligible candidate bios received before the deadline will be distributed to all members of the cluster in advance of the Annual Meeting, to be held Dec. 4, 2018, at the Reston Community Center.

To be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, interested parties must own a property in the cluster (or be the spouse of an owner) and must be in good standing. Board members, as active volunteers, are counted upon to help make policy decisions and to assist in procuring vendors, managing contracts, overseeing finances, managing communications, and enforcing covenants and bylaws. If you consider yourself a team player and would like to give back to the community, and you have the time and interest to actively participate in these activities and in bi-monthly board meetings, please consider submitting your name. You may also submit another’s name, if they give their permission for you to do so. Nominations also will be accepted from the floor during the annual meeting. At the meeting, candidates will be given an opportunity to address the community, possibly followed by a few minutes of Q&A with the audience. Each household will have one vote.
