Highway to Health with the Cooking club

Even if you couldn't make it to the Highway to Health this past Sunday down at South Street Seaport, we wanted to share some pictures with you.

We all had a BLAST cooking in the competition that run during the event, and made vegetarian jambalaya. We then dressed up in mardi graas costumes to complete our NOLA theme. The judges loved it!! We were noted for having the dish with the most nutritional value/with the most veggies, while still tasting great.

The students were an absolute JOY and privilege to work with. They were the only ones to all show up and on time, and worked really hard while we cooked...although we also had a lot of fun :) From Prep we had Raymond and Infinity. From Baldwin: Michelle Lyles, Saeda, and Misael Rodriguez. The students have also formed some Prep-Baldwin friendships due to cooking club which is nice to see.

It's been a slow start, but we are finally starting to get somewhere. Two teams, two robots, many ideas on how to remove rings from pegs.

Attempt #1... The robot tries eating the peg stand.

Attempt #2 - A small success. But enough to give us home
