Questions about middle school religion? Contact Ms. Brott at ebrott@htschool.org
Mass: Middle school Masses will be student planned this year. Students will work in small groups with Gigi to examine the scripture readings for a theme, pick engaging music, write the introduction and petitions, assign roles, and recruit student instrumentalists. We hope you feel the influence of the Holy Spirit every time you join us for Mass this year.
Community Service:
One of our religion standards is about living our faith by providing service to our community. Each trimester, students will participate in a service project together as a class. Most are during the school day.
6th Grade:
Details to come soon! Awaiting confirmation.
7th Grade:
Trimester 1: We are planning to visit neighboring retirement communities during religion class to spend time with residents. More details will be shared once everything is confirmed.
Trimester 2: In honor of Catholic Schools Week, we will serve at the DMARC Food Pantry. Students will help out with tasks and participate in the Poverty Simulation course. Our tentative date is Monday, January 26, 2026, and we are hoping to arrange a bus for the event.
Trimester 3: We will wrap up the year by preparing a meal for families staying at the Catholic Charities Emergency Shelter. The shelter provides dinner every night for up to 10 families, and is regularly at capacity. Volunteers play an important role in supporting those who are working to become self-sufficient again. 7th graders will gather in the social room/kitchen after school on Friday, April 24th from 3:30p-done (about 5:30p) to make the meal.
8th Grade:
Trimester 1: Assist with tasks at St. Thomas Moore as they wrap up their summer season after CYC camp and transition to retreat season.
Details to come soon! Awaiting confirmation.
