7th Grade Math
In 7th grade math, we are continuing our work on ratios and proportional relationships. This past week we took our main checkpoint on proportional relationships and learning how to find the constant of proportionality. We will be taking our test on these items in next two weeks as we start to wrap up our unit this week and into the following week. The next unit will be our unit on circles, circumference, diameter, radius, and area. We will be learning a lot about Pi and how to apply Pi to find the circumference and area.
8th Grade Math
In 8th grade math, we are continuing our work with transformations. Specifically, we added in the fourth and final transformation of dilations. We have taken our checkpoint this past week on dilations and similar shapes. We continue to learn about how all of these transformations interact with each other and various shapes. We started on Thursday and Friday on learning about slope. We started figuring out how to find slope from a line using right triangles and then moved onto the slope formula. We will continue to work on finding slope this next week and then we will have our test the following week on dilations, similar shapes, and slope.
We are replacing dreambox with IXL this year for grades 5-8. We will be posting more updates about IXL here in the near future.
