7th Grade Math
In 7th grade math, we are working on using the four operations with positive and negative numbers. We have just completed our first part of the unit on adding and subtracting these rational numbers. We have been working on when and where do we see negative numbers appear in the real world and how to apply our learning without the use of a calculator.
8th Grade Math
In 8th grade math, we wrapped up our two main pre-algebra related units and are shifting gears over to working on functions. We are using functions with input-output tables and graphs. Students will be identifying dependent and independent variables based on a function statement, graph, table or equation. We will then start to move into volume of various 3D shapes. Specifically the volume of cylinders, spheres, cones, and rectangular prisms.
We are replacing dreambox with IXL this year for grades 5-8. We will be posting more updates about IXL here in the near future.
