This page will be a great resource for you during the school year to get updates on what topics we are covering in the classroom. Please reach out via email (svanderlinden@htschool.org) if you have any questions.
Unit 5 - Systems of Equations
Our first unit of the semester is covering solving systems of equations and inequalities. Students will learn multiple methods of how to solve the systems and learn how to write systems from word problems.
Unit test is on January 29th. Study resources are available to students on Google Classroom.
Unit 6 - Exponent Rules
During this quick unit, we will be focused on understanding the exponent rules also known as the laws of exponents. The final test for this unit is currently scheduled for February 12th.
Unit 6 - Expressions and Equations
In this unit, students will be applying their understanding of arithmetic to reason with algebraic expressions and equations. Specifically, they will write and solve one step equations as well as draw diagrams to represent the equations. Students will also be learning about and applying the distributive property and extending their previous knowledge of exponents.

Unit 6 Illustrative Mathematics Family Information
This personalized learning platform is replacing Dreambox in math in grades 5-8. Based on what we're doing in-class, I have made recommendations of lessons/skills to work on that students can access on the "Dashboard."
